How do I track where each script stands?

The recent scripts list on the dashboard is ordered by workflow stage rather than by date, so whatever is waiting on you appears first. Each script also has an activity record showing what happened to it and when, including edits to its content cards. Together they answer two different questions: what is next, and what happened.

Ordered by stage

The five most recent scripts on the dashboard are not sorted by date. They are sorted by their stage in the sequence you defined.

The difference is practical: date order tells you what you last touched, stage order tells you what is waiting. The second is the question you opened the dashboard to answer.

The activity record

Every script keeps a record of what happened to it and when, including edits to its content cards.

Its value shows up when you return to a script after a fortnight, or when you work with a team and need to know who changed what without asking.

Two different questions

  • What is next? Answered by the ordering by stage.
  • What happened? Answered by the activity record.

Conflating the two is what makes task lists in other tools unreadable.
