How do I log a follow-up with a partner?

Every partnership keeps a follow-up log: you record the type of contact, what was said and when, then optionally the outcome, a priority and the date of the next follow-up. There are six contact types and seven outcomes. The value is that deals are lost to being forgotten more often than to being refused, and whoever forgets to follow up loses the ones that would have said yes.

What a follow-up needs

From the partnership page, add a follow-up. Required:

  1. The contact type.
  2. What was said.
  3. The date of contact.

Optional: the outcome, a priority, and the next follow-up date.

The six contact types

The seven outcomes

  • No response
  • Interested
  • Not interested
  • Follow up later
  • Meeting scheduled
  • Proposal sent
  • Waiting for response

The list is granular for a reason: the difference between "no response" and "waiting for response" is the difference between someone ignoring you and someone who promised an answer. The first needs another attempt; the second needs patience.

Priority

Low · Medium · High · Urgent

The next follow-up date

If you set one, it may not fall before the contact date. Its purpose is to let you see who is waiting on you this week without reading the whole log.
