How do I organise my equipment?
From the equipment planner, add an item with a name, category, quantity and status. There are ten categories: cameras, lenses, microphones, drones, batteries, memory cards, lighting, tripods, filters and accessories. Status is one of three: needed, packed or assigned. Items can be tied to a project and a shoot day, and given an owner. Free allows three items and Creator twenty.
What an item needs
From the equipment planner, add an item. Required:
- A name.
- A category.
- A quantity, from 1 to 999.
- A status.
Optional: the project it belongs to, who has it, and notes.
The ten categories
Cameras · Lenses · Microphones · Drones · Batteries · Memory cards · Lighting · Tripods · Filters · Accessories
Categories are not decoration: they are what makes a list of forty items readable the night before a shoot.
The three statuses
- Needed: you require it and do not have it yet, or have not packed it.
- Packed: it is in the bag.
- Assigned: it is with a person or committed to a particular day.
Attaching to a shoot day
The real value shows when kit is attached to a shoot day: the day's list becomes a packing list, and whatever is still marked "needed" is exactly what is missing.
