What happens to video I film in the app?

A recording is saved to your phone first, then uploaded to the script when you decide to. It goes up in small chunks rather than one piece, so a dropped connection does not restart the upload from zero. A single recording can be up to two gigabytes, and you can give it a title and a note. Uploading is available on every plan.

On the phone first

What you film is saved to your phone first. Nothing is uploaded automatically, and filming alone uses none of your allowance.

Uploading is your decision: send up the take you liked and leave the three attempts before it where they are.

Uploaded in chunks

When you do upload, the file is split into small pieces sent one after another rather than as a single large transfer.

The benefit is practical: if the connection drops halfway, nothing goes back to zero. That matters most on location, where the network is not something to rely on.

Limits

  • Size of one recording: up to 2 GB.
  • Title: optional.
  • Note: optional, up to 5,000 characters.

The note is more useful than it looks: "third take, better opening but the light shifted" is what separates two files with identical names.

When a recording counts as uploaded

Only once the upload finishes and the file is stored. A recording whose upload started but did not finish is not uploaded, and you can try again.

Plans

Uploading recordings is available on every plan.
